PAL Registry Cleaner Optimizer from PAL Solutions has a very simple opening screen to aid in the difficult process of scanning your registry. It includes some convenient features, but is lacking many found in top-of-the-line registry repair utilities.

Ease of Use:  

The Registry Repair navigation is designed with three available options. You may scan, backup, or configure the registry. This program lacks the ability to perform individual corrections, requiring you to restore all corrections to the original state.

Feature Set:  

PAL Registry Cleaner allows you to make a backup of your registry and restore any changes that are made. There is an auto repair function that automatically repairs detected errors for you. The program also has the ability to scan add/remove and startup programs. However, this program is lacking many features usually found in registry repair packages including scheduling capabilities and a registry defrag feature.

Ease of Installation:  

The installation was fairly easy. We encountered no problems. Default settings are prepared for you to aid in the installation and setup process.

Help/Support:  

The help and documentation segment for this program needs improvement. You must first sign up with the help desk to submit an email request. The help manual is very simple, covering only the bare essentials of the program. There is an available FAQ section and articles designed to help guide you through navigation of the program.

Safety:  

PAL Registry Cleaner Optimizer offers some basic features to aid in keeping your registry safe, but lacks some of the safety features offered by other registry repair programs. When an error is detected, you are given a vague description of the error's location, but you cannot directly access the error. The program offers backup capabilities, but lacks the ability to rank severity of the errors. This makes it difficult for a novice to the registry to make an informed decision about which errors to fix and which to delete.

Summary:  

Overall PAL Registry Cleaner /Optimizer does an adequate job discovering potential problems with your registry. Improvements in the feature set and safety division, such as the inclusion of severity rankings, would make the product a much safer choice for a novice to the Windows registry.
